Even though the server is still running, as I saw no need to shut it down as long as chardev was up to date, development was discontinued on September 2nd.

Too bad. Chardev is an amazing tool. Much better than Wowhead's character planner.
Thanks for the work you put in the site all this time. |

This is very unfortunate news, this site was THE most useful tool I have found/used. Thank you for the work you have done thus far, much appreciated.

Are there any other easy to use tools like this? This is a great site, its a shame to see it not being utilized. it'd be pretty easy just to update it with new gear.

Can the source not be given to someone else to update?

It has: https://github.com/chardev
However, it would be nice to have some kind of documentation of how to set up the database and what scripts need to be run in what order to pull stuff from battlenet. |

Yes this is absolutely terrible. I know of no suitable replacement for this. Wowhead's "planner" gets numbers wrong, this place was the bomb.

All of the documentation you need to get the site running are included in the Github.
There are even SQL scripts to populate the database with empty tables. However, when I use the java tools to attempt to update the database with new items I am getting the extra columns that Martin pointed out frequently happens. I haven't yet had the time to fix it, but assuming I do I'll have to be in contact with Martin about getting an updated mirror of the site running soon. |

I'll have a look at updating the java tools (and maybe chardevs database) and supply some more documentation on how to use the sources and scripts hosted at github later this week.
Uploading a database dump is not possible as it mainly contains data extracted from WoWs game files, and I'm not really comfortable distributing intellectual property of blizzard. If someone is into continuing chardev, he should have a look at the "new" yet unfinished chardev 9, as the JS code is much cleaner. The version hosted at github is outdated, I'll update it asap. The preview is still running under http://chardev.org/chardev82/. - LeMartin |

Well I've managed to get everything updated to 4.3 on a dev box.
The only thing I can't seem to get working are enchants. Everything else is going great. |

Your chardev_cataclysm_static.chardev_enchant_spell is probably empty, I pushed a dump (Somehow pushing a dump sounds nasty) to the git rep, see: https://github.com/chardev/chardev/blob/master/database/dumps/enchants_backup.sql.

Should consider selling Chardev to Curse or Wowhead or something. Clearly a lot of work has gone into this awesome resource. Getting rewarded for it would be pretty reasonable imo.
