Good question. Not much in matters of chardev and it's future. I'm way to busy at the moment. Still, thanks for all the comments.
If chardev was implemented in one single language and you would just have to deploy a compiled package, to run an chardev instance, I'd take the code and dump it somewhere, so that someone really enthusiastic could download it, create a open source project and assemble coding monkeys and bug fixing apes. But chardev is a mess, consisting of a PHP/mySQL back-end and a JS front-end, where the database is populated using a Java-based game file parser and some PHP scripts. Sometimes I can't remember how things works, that's why I hate patches, there's always a script I forget to execute or something like it. Okay, then I could just dump the whole project somewhere, but that'd mean anyone with ill intends could search through the back-end code and do nasty things to the (current) chardev server. >> Say "Hi" to code injection! >> Hi code injection! And I guess you wouldn't like your mail addresses made public. I know, I know, they're probably all created just to register here and to eat spam. There is just no quick and easy way. And quick and easy is all i can give you at the moment. That I'm posting is mainly because i am, after them loosing the final, way to agitated to do something useful. I'll try to update to 4.2 this week, beginning at Monday that is. I'd actually no clue that there was a patch, again. Edit: If anyone interested: http://github.com/chardev Edit #2: Finished uploading 4.2 patch, let me know, if something is missing or not working as supposed. Edit #3: I've added the legendary staff Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest, as seen on battle.net. |

Even an update for patch 4.2 is a blessing. I just wish you would continue with the site indefinitely. I would pay a monthly fee.

Unterstell dich doch einfach Curse, wie alle großen Seiten, die stellen dir dann irgendwelche Hunde, die beim "laufen halten" des ganzen unter die Arme greifen + du Verdienst dabei wohl.

Missing items/not working items:
1. Random enchantments on 4.2 gear are not updated, such as: Flickering Cowl for helmet for clothies :) - if they were, then I'm blind and don't know how to use it properly. 2. I noticed that you've added avengers of hyjal - friendly itemlevel 391's - these never made it to live, they were on the PTR but not on live. Some more items that are on the chardev 4.2 update that don't exist on live realms: Firesoul Wristguards (ilvl 391) http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/71086 Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest - Legendary Staff not in the database 4. Other missing stuff: Priest - Power Word: Shadow Protection buffs is missing 5. Gear models/icons mostly aren't implemented in the database yet. |

@Innovative
1. The random enchants eluded the update! They'd work now (for most part that is). 2. I don't add anything, I just parse files, and whether the parsed items are available, or not, is hard to say, therefore there may items available at chardev, that are not in-game. I filter most of them. e.g. by name ( Art Template ... ) or by item level ( <= 404 ), but never get them all. 5. I've uploaded a bunch of new icons |

Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest (ItemID:71086) is missing.
Maybe you filtered it because it's itemlvl is 404? |

No, it is missing, because it is neither part of the wow client files, nor available at any realm i tried. As stated: http://chardev.org/?topic=782&page=6#p116

I can confirm gems and professions are not getting imported maybe since the update (Silvermoon-EU server).
Edit: gems are getting imported now. |

Just wanted to take a minute to say that I really appreciate the work you do for this site and I know so many other people in the community do as well. We all appreciate the time you take to keep this site up to date and I'd really like to see this site stay alive and running because it is such an amazing tool to have available.

What has been mentioned many times is joining a network like Curse or Zam. Now, even if this reduces the time you need to invest, does it reduce it far enough for you to handle it?
On the other line of thought, just finding someone who maintains and hosts chardev, I think it will get important to know how much traffic chardev generates. That is, if someone has enough balls to dive into your self-titled mess of code :> A completely unrelated topic: what is your stance on non-english posts? You and me, we understood what iwinandeatu wrote - but seeing how widely known chardev is, most readers probably aren't German native speakers. |

Thanks for sharing the code. I believe it is a step in the right direction. And of course, the 4.2 update is most welcome.
I am not a java developer but I am really looking forward to going through the code. |
