Chardev 9 mainly aims to increase the usability of chardev and the readability of the code, though there are some new features, like Storable Imports and Comments.

Reforge Interface:
The reforge interface is no longer inspired by WoWs user interface, but by the many reforge optimizer, making reforge a one-click action.

Storable Imports:
You may save often used character imports from battle.net in your account settings. These stored imports are then shown in the character planner under import, saving you from typing your character names and realms over and over again.

Comments:
It is now possible to comment on each saved character profile. The comments are shown on the overview tab.

Most of the code was written in June and July before the development was officially stopped, but as the project was quite far advanced I decided to invest some time in completing it.

There are as always some bugs hidden, for you to find, I'll try to fix them in a timely manner.

I really like the new reforge interface but what happened to the option to export the profile to wowreforge.com?

Also any way to possibly re-enable simcraft import? Currently it states no profile exists, I imagine it's due to the missing metadata.

@Universum
The export function is back.

@vulpes

It seems the people at simcraft adapted their import to work with the changed chardev profile format. And that before I realized that I broke it.

Good to see the reforge export back since it's a very handy tool.

On a different note: Chardev 9 load noticeably slower than the previous version in Firefox (v8.0.1) than it does in Chrome (v16.0.912.63). Any ideas why and/or how I can improve performance in Firefox?

PS: I'm sorry if I seem all negative - this is a fantastic site indeed.

That is strange, I'm not experiencing any significant difference is loading time. Is it just the initial page load or also the overall performance?

Firebug could possibly tell if it is network related and loading what resource takes so long.

PS: There is nothing negative about reporting bugs.

It's the overall performance really. After selecting a race, it's slow to bring up the class selection. Clicking on a gem slot is low to bring up the list of gems. That kind of thing.

To be fair though, Chrome seems to be faster in general (not just this site) and I have extensions in Firefox that I don't have in Chrome, so that could make a difference.

I'll look into the performance as soon as the bug storm is over.

It appears this discontinued project has more developer support than some active commercial concerns do. The mind boggles.

That said, I'm happy to see the update. The interface on this is vastly superior to it's contemporaries.

Thanks for the update. Nice to see the site still runnning.

Happy New Year.

Hmmm there is still a problem for ME.

normally i had the chance to use another language. but now it is not possible. so my guildmates don't understand the profiles we send them... may we have a german chardev again?

Ah, right, the prefered language (as specified in your account settings) is stored in the session rather than using a subdomain to switch between localisations, therefore linking a profile for a certain language is not really supported.

There are currently two solutions, either your guild mates create an account and select their respective language in the settings, or you manually add the subdomain to your profiles (en/fr/de/es/ru), so that your link looks something like "http://de.chardev.org?profile=123".

If you create an account you are NOT able to set your preferred language. so there is a problem! we need a button in the headline where we can select our language, i think

It's not done during creation (I never got around to update the registration process) but afterwards in your account settings.

(see my signature)

Edit: To edit the setting, just click at the currently set preferred language, a select should appear.

Hello,

I was looking for a good simulator, frankly the best of all it is chardev, it is incredibly easy, even for me who am French, and not very good with the English ^ ^

Many thank you and continue like that, you did a great job ^! ^

Bonjour,
