first thing i will say is use cata gems and enchants... and second your using alot of dps orientated gear and having to reforge the stats u need as tank therefore reducing ur mitigation stats compared to someone else geared in specific 'tank' gear at the same ilvl

There should be next to no dps stats period on your gear. As the post above said, Tank gear will trounce dps gear every time for a tank. Don't stam stack and mastery is your friend.

replace all your dps gear with Tank gear and decide between double stam trinks (my preference, since i don't stam stack) or 1 stam/ 1 mastery/mitigation trink

Here's an idea for you: http://chardev.org/?profile=245445

(The expertise gems aren't really supposed to be there, they just popped up on the list and i used em. Also, the stam gems are just for fun, only place i put pure stam into)

Ok want to know what I think? Mastery is garbage. COMPLETE GARBAGE. I hate tanks who stack mastery, they take so much dmg compared to parry/dodge tanks.
Parry/dodge= 100% dmg reduction
Block= 30% dmg reduction

I would take 100% over 30% any day.

If my gear has any mastery I reforge it to dodge or parry but most of it doesn't. I go for the pieces with no mastery.
I have a 20% chance to parry and a 21% chance to dodge. 32% chance to block. I take hardly any dmg.

Every tank must have a minimum of 30% with their dodge and parry. I see some mastery tanks with like 24% AND 60% CHANCE TO BLOCK , I don'T even let them into my raids.

All you mastery tanks, just try it... Trust me you will like it way more. Dodge and parry gems cost like 20g each so not expensive at all. Reforge any mastery to dodge or parry. Leave any parry or dodge alone while reforging and start going for the no mastery gear.

That's my opinion...
Mastery tanks prove me why its better to stack mastery over dodge/parry

"Mastery tanks prove me why its better to stack mastery over dodge/parry"

Parry/Dodge:
Attacktable:
x% chance to dodge
x% chance to parry
x% chance to block
5% chance to miss (the boss misses you)
x% chance to hit (no dmg-reduce)

Mastery:
Attacktable:
x% chance to dodge
x% chance to parry
x% chance to block
5% chance to miss (the boss misses you)
0% chance to hit (!!!)

So because you will never get a normal hit from any boss, if you get enough mastery (there's no problem to get it with T12+), your highest incoming damage are mitigated hits (blocks). If you do the math, you will see, that you will get overall less damage and in addition there are less incoming dmg-spikes. So the healer conserve mana and also have more to react on incoming damage. The only con is, that you get less parry dodge chains with mastery, but because you can't control/activate those chains yourself, they are totally useless.

But because my english writing skills suck, i will quote someone who did the math:
"Mastery is the best defensive stat for Protection Paladins for two reasons. First, up to full Combat Table Coverage (CTC) of 102.4% (sometimes referred to as “Block Cap”), Mastery provides more damage reduction per itemization point than any other stat. Second, in addition to reducing damage taken, Mastery also smoothes out the incoming damage a tank faces, making them easier for healers to heal.
For example, stacking avoidance does a good job of reducing damage, but makes the incoming damage “spikier”. Either the tank takes a full hit or it misses entirely, so their health bar either doesn’t move or it takes a big dip, making incoming dps much more volatile. In contrast, stacking Mastery makes the tank take a steady succession of much smaller hits which are easier to manage, and less likely to kill the tank outright before a healer can react."
