Patch 3.3.2
show/hide

Hey,

I've juste completed updating chardev with the newest game databases and all the new cache files you send me today, thanks to you most of the s8 pvp items are now available. If you feel like something is missing and you're sure you've seen it ingame, just upload your cache files.

I also want to thank nooster, TheFastCat and Moomin for donating, and two other users who used a different email, so I can't tell who they are. As a small bonus to everyone who donated, I removed the ads.

Several things
show/hide

Good day,

as some of you pointed out, there are still items missing, but the cache upload isn't used too much and I don't have the time to fetch items myself (at least till end of february).

Some time ago, i changed the page to use xhtml instead of html, if you notice any new or old display bugs, browser issues or something like that let me know. I even thought of using XML and XSLT, but as soon as i realized how ugly this could get i dropped the matter.

Due to some restructuring i moved links to less frequently used features from the menu to the bottom of the page and i moved the paypal donate link to the top menu.

And thanks to 'Shedim' and 'Ethanius' the only two donators, ever.

I guess that's it for now.

Patch 3.3
show/hide

Hey folks,

after some playing around with the chardev core i noticed that all the new items weren't working properly because of the missing game files, so i reactivated my account downloaded the patches and updated chardev with the 3.3 game files.

Let me know if something isn't working or something still needs to be updated.

Future of chardev
show/hide

When I wrote chardev seven I tried to undo some of my previous mistakes, I embraced the prototype based object oriented nature of JavaScript and I incorporated all the knowlegde gained over the last 2 years into the engine.
I am somehow proud of the engine, which is so much better to handle and performs just well, what i'm not proud of, is the user interface. Creating DOM Elements via JS may seems to be the appropriate way, but hell, it's neither comprehensible nor readable, it's just total chaos, compared with the structured pureness of static HTML. I'm not even stating with the problems different browsers are giving me.
Despite the display problems the interface lags a clear structure, it's not very intuitive with all these tabs and far from pretty.
I'm sorry if chardev seven didn't meet your expectations it surely didn't meet mine. And no rewrite will fix JavaScript's language shortcommings nor the lack of a widely accepted alternative nor the inconsistency of all these so called browsers nor the absense of my graphic skills.

I've quitted World of Warcraft nearly half a year ago, it's just a matter of time until chardev befalls the same fate.

chardev seven roll out
show/hide

Hey,

i've just completed the update of chardev to version seven. All old profiles should work, but as it needed some converting there may be problemes i'm unaware of, so if you notice something, let me know.
Thanks to everyone who helped making the chardev seven release the smoothest in chardev history. (Okay, that doesn't mean too much I guess.)
